Welcome to the homepage of a true Louisiana Landmark: The Prytania Theatre! First constructed in the early 1900s, the Prytania is the last remaining single-screen suburban theatre in the state. As such, we pride ourselves on offering a truly unique and old-fashioned movie-going experience. Theatre proprietor, Rene Brunet, has been in the movie industry for over 60 years, having operated more than a dozen single-screen and multi-plex theatres throughout the decades. "But if I had to choose just one, The Prytania would be it!" he exclaims. "Nowhere else can you escape from the world so completely as in this charming suburban theatre. We spared no expense in bringing her back to her former glory. So come on down and grab some popcorn - the show's about to begin!
